Get Your Gardens Ready! The Oshawa Garden Club Annual Plant Sale is Coming

Calling all gardeners and nature lovers!

Mark your calendars for the Oshawa Garden Club Annual Plant Sale. This is our biggest fundraiser of the year, and the proceeds are what make our monthly club events, workshops, and expert guest speakers possible. Your support helps our gardening community thrive.

Event Details

  • When: Saturday, May 23rd, 2026
  • Time: 9:00 AM – 1:00 PM
  • Where: South Oshawa Community Centre

Whether you are looking to add some perennials to your borders, find beautiful native plants, or simply pick up some expert advice, this is the place to be. We are also excited to announce that we will have salad bowls and herb pots available for sale—perfect for your kitchen or patio!

We Need Your Plants! (Call for Donations)

The success of our sale—and our ability to fund next year’s programming—depends on the generosity of our members. As you begin your spring cleanup, please consider setting aside plant donations for the club.

Please watch for our list of plants we will not accept due to their invasive status or nature.

A Special Note on Winter Sowing:

If you have been busy winter sowing and have seedlings ready to share, we would love to include them. To ensure we have space and proper labeling for these specific varieties, please contact a member of the Plant Sale Committee to coordinate.

How to get in touch:
You can reach the Plant Sale Committee directly at oshawagardenclub1931@gmail.com. for any questions regarding donations or winter sowing.

Help Us Spread the Word!

We want to see a great turnout this year! You can help by telling your family, friends, and neighbours about the sale. We also encourage members to put a lawn sign out to advertise in your neighbourhood—every bit of promotion helps make our fundraiser a success.

Other Ways to Support

If you are unable to donate plants or assist with the sale in person, you can still make a huge difference. Please consider a monetary donation to help defer the cost of soil. Providing quality soil for our potted donations is a significant expense for the club, and your contribution ensures more of our proceeds go directly toward club programming.

More Than Just Plants

We are thrilled to announce that several wonderful community partners are already confirmed to attend the sale. You’ll have the chance to visit with and learn from:

  • Friends of the Second Marsh
  • Durham Master Gardeners (Bring your toughest gardening questions!)
  • Robert McLaughlin Gallery
  • David Suzuki’s Butterflyway Rangers
  • Oshawa Public Library
  • CLOCA (Central Lake Ontario Conservation Authority)

We are still waiting for confirmation from a few more guest organisations, so stay tuned for updates.

How to Volunteer

It takes a village (or at least a very dedicated garden club) to run our largest event of the year. We have several ways you can get involved:

  • Potting Party: Help us get everything ready for the big day.
  • Pick up and Delivery: Assist with transporting plants to the community centre.
  • Day-of Assistance: Help with setup, sales, and clean up during and after the event.

Sign-up sheets will be available at our upcoming April meeting. Be sure to drop by the meeting to grab your preferred time slot and help make this our best fundraiser yet!
