Hearth Place Gardens Project

Hearth Place Gardens Project

Hearth Place is a cancer support centre in Oshawa that serves all of Durham Region. It receives no government funding and relies on donations from benefactors and fund raising initiatives.

Every Friday morning from late April until the end of October, a dedicated group of Oshawa Garden Club volunteers turn up to maintain the gardens at Hearth Place. The gardens consist of one surrounding two sides of the large car park, the two gardens at the front and a quiet gated mostly shaded garden at the back and side of the building which has a lovely gentle water feature and some statues. This year for the Artists in the Garden tour, this garden was open to the participants and everyone who came said what a lovely and peaceful space it is. Over the years, these gardens have been created by this team from the club and we are justly proud of what has been created for the centre’s clients. Take a look at the photos from the last couple of years to view the efforts and fun had by all. If you would like to join in, you only have to be a club member and sign up at a meeting. You would not be committed to every week!

Gardening in a pandemic has its challenges, but the OGC team in undaunted!
